Three Injured in Head-On Crash Along Highway 34 in Wayne County

Wayne County, MO (July 20, 2026) — Three people were injured after a head-on collision on Highway 34 in Wayne County, Missouri, on July 18.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 1:25 p.m., about six miles east of Piedmont. Investigators said a 28-year-old man from Piedmont was driving a Pontiac G6 westbound when the vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound Ford Fusion driven by a 30-year-old Farmington man.

A 35-year-old Farmington woman riding in the Ford Fusion suffered serious injuries, while both drivers sustained moderate injuries. Emergency crews transported all three victims to a hospital in Poplar Bluff for treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

Let’s Avoid Traffic Accidents

Avoiding auto accidents involves paying attention and practicing safe driving methods. And as always, you should follow the speed and traffic laws, and don’t text (or use your phone in any way) behind the wheel.

Keep a safe trailing distance to be able to stop, if necessary.

Do not drink and drive, and never get behind the wheel if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if you are tired.

Watch your mirrors and use your turn signals, and check your blind spots, before changing lanes or making a turn. Drive calmly and patiently, especially in heavy traffic or bad weather.

When you drive responsibly and remain alert, you help prevent accidents and keep everyone on the road safe.

Crossing the centerline can lead to devastating head-on collisions. Drivers should stay focused, avoid distractions, and never drive while fatigued or impaired. Remaining alert and in your lane can help protect everyone on the road.

What Happens After a Traffic Collision?

The aftermath of a traffic accident can feel overwhelming. Between medical appointments, time away from work, insurance calls, and mounting bills, pursuing compensation on your own can be stressful and time-consuming.

That’s why one of the most important steps you can take after a crash is speaking with a personal injury attorney. Having legal guidance can significantly ease the burden. An experienced attorney understands how to investigate the accident, collect evidence, handle insurance companies, and protect your rights throughout the claims process.

Without legal support, many people find the process confusing and frustrating—and some end up receiving far less compensation than they deserve, or none at all. You shouldn’t have to suffer additional hardship because of someone else’s negligence.

At Sweet Lawyers, our seasoned attorneys handle the legal complexities so you can focus on healing and moving forward. We work on a contingency fee basis, which means there’s no upfront cost—you don’t pay unless we win your case. We also offer free consultations, giving you the chance to understand your options with no pressure.

If you’ve been involved in a traffic collision, Sweet Lawyers is here with a compassionate, experienced team ready to stand up for your rights and pursue the justice your family deserves.
