Head-On Collision on Highway 503 Results in Injuries [Cowlitz County, WA]

Cowlitz County, WA (September 30, 2026) — On Saturday evening, three people suffered injuries in a head-on collision on Highway 503 near Cape Horn Creek involving a motorcycle and a Subaru.

Washington State Patrol troopers responded shortly before 5:30 p.m. near Milepost 41. Investigators said 32-year-old Edward Aruja of Vancouver was traveling north on a Yamaha motorcycle when he crossed the center line and struck a southbound Subaru Crosstrek.

Aruja suffered serious injuries and was flown to a hospital by Life Flight. Authorities said he was wearing a USDOT-compliant helmet.

The Subaru’s 76-year-old driver and 74-year-old passenger, both from Cougar, were also taken to a hospital. Officials had not released details about their injuries.

The investigation remained ongoing, with potential charges against Aruja pending.
