Head-On Collision on State Route 2 Ends in Tragedy [Douglas County, WA]

Douglas County, WA (September 2, 2026) — Five people died Sunday night after a head-on collision on State Route 2 in Douglas County, Washington.

The Washington State Patrol said the crash occurred around 9:40 p.m. northeast of Wenatchee. A Nissan Maxima carrying four men crossed the center line while traveling west and struck an eastbound Chevrolet Sonic driven by a 77-year-old Omak woman.

All five occupants died at the crash scene. Authorities withheld their identities until they could notify their families.

Investigators believe drugs and/or alcohol contributed to the collision. The crash forced officials to close State Route 2 for several hours overnight before reopening the roadway Monday morning.
