1 Person Dead after Head-On Crash on US 12 in Touchet

Touchet, WA (November 15, 2023) – On Monday, one person died, and 6 others sustained injuries in a head-on crash on US 12.

The crash, which took place on a two-lane, undivided section of U.S. 12, occurred around 8:50 p.m.

The driver of a Chrysler Town and Country van, traveling east towards Walla Walla, attempted to pass another vehicle and collided head-on with a westbound Toyota Tacoma pickup truck heading towards Pasco.

Subsequently, a third vehicle collided with the pickup truck. The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene.

Passengers in the van, including 23-year-old Gabriel Ernandea of Venezuela, 21-year-old Jose Pabon Pabon of an unknown residence, and 19-year-old Bryan Porras Mondada of Columbia, were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland with undisclosed injuries.

Another passenger, 18-year-old Anders Porras Quiroga of Columbia, was taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.

The driver of the pickup truck, 22-year-old Esmeralda Diaz-Ramos, and a 2-year-old passenger, Salvador Suarez, both of Walla Walla, sustained undisclosed injuries and were also transported to Kadlec.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the third vehicle.

As of noon Tuesday, officials were still in the process of completing necessary steps, including positively identifying the deceased person and informing their next of kin.

The collision is currently under investigation, and it is unknown at this time whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
