Zavalla Woman Dies, Two Others Injured in Crash on U.S. 69 Near Lufkin

Angelina County, TX (November 20, 2025) — 83-year-old Helen Daniel of Zavalla died, and two others were seriously hurt after a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday morning on U.S. 69 south of Lufkin.

According to the Texas DPS, Daniel passed away at a Lufkin hospital following the crash. Donna Price, 55, also of Zavalla, and Christina Mikeska, 42, of Lufkin, suffered serious injuries.

Reports say that Daniel was riding in a 2024 Kia Sportage driven by Price. Price attempted to pull out of a private driveway and entered the path of Mikeska’s 1996 Chevy Tahoe, leading to the collision.
