Santa Ana, CA (December 23, 2024) On Saturday morning, 25-year-old Reuben Contreras of Santa Ana died after a horrific collision near Harbor Boulevard.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD), the fatal crash happened at about 9:20 a.m. near Croddy Way.

Reports say that a surveillance footage recorded a fatal high-speed crash in Santa Ana early Saturday morning, killing the 25-year-old Santa Ana man.

Authorities say that the crash occurred around 9:20 a.m. near Harbor Boulevard and Croddy Way. The Orange County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Contreras.

Officials say that a Toyota Camry waits to make a left turn into a parking lot when a speeding GMC pickup truck crashes into it. The force of the collision flips the truck over while pushing the sedan into a light pole, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

Emergency responders arrived to find Contreras unresponsive among the wreckage and declared him dead at the scene. The GMC truck’s driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Local residents note that speeding is a frequent problem on this stretch of road. While police continue investigating the cause of the crash, they stated that drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role.
