Hit-and-Run Collision on Highway 101 Injures 2 People [Shelton, WA]

Shelton, WA (June 26, 2025) — A two-vehicle collision on Highway 101 near Shelton left two drivers injured Tuesday evening after an Olympia woman allegedly lost control of her vehicle and struck another car.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened around 5:26 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 101 and Lynch Road Southeast, just north of Kamilche.

Investigators said a 32-year-old Olympia woman was driving north when she lost control, crossed into another northbound vehicle driven by a 33-year-old woman from Tahuya, and crashed into it.

The impact caused both vehicles to roll over before coming to rest on opposite sides of the highway. Authorities said the Olympia driver fled the scene on foot but troopers quickly located and detained her nearby. Investigators suspect she was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and charges are pending.

Emergency crews transported the Olympia woman to Mason General Hospital, while the Tahuya driver was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment. Both vehicles sustained total damage.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
