Kobi Heyen Hospitalized After Hit-and-Run Crash on Centennial and Apache Trails in Woodland Park

Woodland Park, CO (April 2, 2026) – 13-year-old Kobi Heyen sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Centennial and Apache Trails.

Police in Woodland Park are searching for a man accused of hitting a 13-year-old boy and leaving the scene.

The crash happened on March 25 near Centennial and Apache Trails, close to Highway 67.

According to reports, the boy was crossing the street on his bicycle when a truck struck him and threw him off the bike.

Kobi Heyen, the 13-year-old victim, described the frightening moment, saying everything changed in an instant.

The collision badly damaged his bicycle and left him injured.

After the crash, Kobi approached the driver and confronted him.

Kobi said he showed the man his elbow injury and tried to pick up his bike, but the driver left instead of staying to help.

Emergency responders later took Kobi to the hospital. He has since been released.

Kobi’s mother, Brenda, said the incident has left her angry and frustrated.

She questioned why an adult driver would hit a child, see that he was bleeding, and still drive away without offering help.

The Woodland Park Police Department described the suspect as a white male, 40 to 50 years old, with graying hair and a brown beard.

Investigators believe he was driving a white, silver, or gray truck, possibly a Chevy Silverado.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the vehicle is urged to contact the Woodland Park Police Department at 719-687-9262.
