Texas DPS Searches for Driver in Copperas Cove Hit-and-Run Collision

Coryell County, TX (May 23, 2025) — The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking for the public’s help in locating a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 190 that injured another motorist in Coryell County.

Investigators said the crash happened around 8:03 a.m. on May 1 along the Highway 190 Bypass in Copperas Cove. A 2012 Ford Mustang was traveling westbound when a black four-door Toyota Camry reportedly crossed into its lane and collided with the vehicle.

Authorities identified the suspect vehicle as a black Toyota Camry bearing license plate number 6DF5667 from an unknown state.

After the collision, the Camry continued eastbound without stopping to provide assistance or exchange information. Emergency crews transported the Mustang driver to AdventHealth Hospital in Killeen for treatment of injuries.

Anyone with information about the crash or the suspect vehicle is urged to contact Texas DPS investigators.

Do The Right Thing. Stay. Help. Take Responsibility.

A hit-and-run is not just a crime, but a devastating act of cowardice leaving victims injured, scared, and sometimes fighting for their lives. If you’re involved in a traffic accident, stop immediately. Call 911. Help those who are hurt.

Remember that fleeing the scene only worsens the situation and carries serious legal consequences, including felony charges. Victims deserve accountability and justice.

Leaving the scene of a crash can delay emergency care for injured victims and create additional hardships for families. Drivers involved in collisions should always stop, render aid, and cooperate with law enforcement to help keep roads and communities safer.

Life After a Traffic Accident

The truth is, a crash doesn’t end when the wreckage is cleared away. For many, it’s just the beginning of a long and difficult road to recovery. Injuries can range from minor bruises to life-changing trauma, and the emotional toll can be just as heavy — stress, anxiety, or even the fear of driving again. Add medical bills, lost wages, and other financial worries, and it can all feel overwhelming.
