Adult Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Jessie Avenue in North Sacramento
Sacramento, CA (March 10, 2026) — An adult male pedestrian lost his life Saturday night after a hit-and-run crash on Norwood Avenue in North Sacramento.
Officers with the Sacramento Police Department responded to the intersection of Norwood and Jessie avenues shortly after 8 p.m., just north of Interstate 80, after receiving reports of a serious collision. When authorities arrived, they found the victim lying in the roadway.
First responders attempted life-saving efforts, but the man died at the scene from his injuries.
Investigators determined that the pedestrian was struck during a crash involving two vehicles. One of the drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities, while the second driver fled before officers arrived.
Police launched an investigation into the incident. Detectives from the department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Investigators are handling the case. Officers also canvassed the surrounding area and spoke with potential witnesses as they work to identify the driver who left the scene.
Officials have not yet released the victim’s identity. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will disclose his name after notifying his family.
The investigation remains ongoing.
