Authorities Search for White Honda After Hit-And-Run Crash on the CV Link Pathway in Coachella
COACHELLA, CA (July 29, 2026)— A cyclist is recovering after a hit-and-run crash on the CV Link pathway in Coachella over the weekend, prompting renewed concerns about unauthorized vehicles using the route intended primarily for pedestrians and cyclists.
The collision occurred on the CV Link between Dillon Road and Avenue 50.
The cyclist, who asked not to be identified, told News Channel 3 he was riding with a friend when he heard a vehicle approaching from behind.
According to the cyclist, his riding companion repeatedly warned him that a car was approaching. Because of strong winds, he said he did not hear the warnings until he looked back and saw the vehicle directly behind him.
The cyclist said he attempted to avoid the vehicle, but the driver struck him before fleeing the scene without stopping.
The crash left the cyclist with scrapes, a swollen leg and knee, and damage to his bicycle.
Following the incident, the cyclist and other riders expressed concerns about vehicles illegally driving on the CV Link, which is intended primarily for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other authorized users. Riders told News Channel 3 they have frequently observed unauthorized vehicles on the pathway.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Deputy Paul Abrego said deputies routinely monitor the area when patrolling nearby but acknowledged that public reports can help law enforcement increase enforcement efforts.
Authorities emphasized that motor vehicles are not permitted on the CV Link. Investigators are currently searching for a small white Honda believed to have been involved in the hit-and-run.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the incident.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the department.
