Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested After Riverside Student Suffers Injuries

Riverside, CA (September 12, 2026) — Police arrested a 47-year-old Bloomington man in connection with a hit-and-run crash on Victoria Avenue that left a Riverside Poly High School student hospitalized.

The crash happened around 3:40 p.m. on September 4 near Victoria and Myrtle avenues in Riverside. Witnesses reported that a vehicle struck the student and fled the scene.

The student, whose identity has not been released, remained hospitalized in stable condition a week after the crash.

Riverside police detectives identified the suspect and his vehicle using information from the public and automated license plate reader data. Officers later recovered the unoccupied vehicle and impounded it as evidence.

The suspect eventually surrendered to detectives and was booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
