1 Dead in Taylor County Auto Accident on Interstate 20 near Exit 269

TAYLOR COUNTY, TX (July 20, 2026) – Sunday night, a person died in a horrific 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 near Exit 269.

The incident happened on Interstate 20 frontage road near Exit 269, northeast side of Merkel.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at least one person was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck towing a trailer.

Authorities have not released additional details about the victim.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
