ECTOR COUNTY, TX (June 9, 2026) – Thursday night, a horrific 2-vehicle crash on US Highway 385 and South Service Road State Highway 158 killed 2.

The incident involving two vehicles happened on US Highway 385 and South Service Road State Highway 158.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 385 when a 2024 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 17-year-old girl from Mississippi, was traveling southbound and attempted a left turn onto the South Service Road of State Highway 158.

Investigators said the Malibu failed to yield the right-of-way, causing the Dodge Ram to strike the passenger side of the car.

Authorities reported that the 17-year-old driver and a 13-day-old infant were ejected from the Malibu and pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the Malibu sustained major injuries and was transported to Medical Center Hospital.

DPS said neither the driver nor the infant was wearing a seat belt or an appropriate restraint at the time of the crash.

All occupants of the Dodge Ram suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The crash remains under investigation.
