1 Dead in Gilbert Multi-Vehicle Accident on State Route 202 and Higley Road

GILBERT, AZ (July 27, 2026) – Sunday morning, a woman died in a horrific 3-vehicle crash on State Route 202 and Higley Road.

The incident involving three vehicles happened at about 11:00 a.m. on westbound State Route 202, just past the Higley Road overpass.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash involving two Volkswagens and a pickup truck.

Investigators said a Volkswagen electric vehicle had stopped in the No. 2 lane because of mechanical problems. A dark-colored Volkswagen Jetta then crashed into the disabled vehicle. Moments later, a Chevrolet pickup truck struck the Jetta.

The woman driving the Jetta was killed in the collision.

Authorities have not released the identities of those involved or the conditions of any other occupants.

The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
