Horrific 4-Car Crash on Nash Road Led to Tragedy

One Dead, Four Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Cape Girardeau Airport

Cape Girardeau County, MO (December 11, 2025) — On Monday evening, a multi-vehicle crash on Nash Road/MO-AB in Cape Girardeau County left one man dead and four others injured.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred around 5:20 p.m., roughly four miles west of Scott City near the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport.

Reports say that a car crossed the center line, striking a van and a pickup. The van then crossed into oncoming traffic and hit an SUV.

Authorities say that the driver of the car, a 33-year-old Cape Girardeau man, died at the scene. Four others—including a child—sustained injuries. A 45-year-old pickup driver, a 57-year-old passenger in the van, a 5-year-old passenger in the SUV, and the SUV’s driver were all hospitalized, with injuries ranging from minor to moderate. All four vehicles were totaled.

Crews closed both lanes of Nash Road/MO-AB for several hours, diverting traffic to County Roads 217 and 218. This crash marks the 60th traffic-related death in Troop E this year.
