WHEAT RIDGE, CO (May 26, 2026) – Saturday morning, an 18-year-old man died in a horrific 5-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 near Ward Road.

The incident involving five vehicles happened at about 2:40 a.m., when a semi rolled over between Ward Road and Kipling Street.

Police said four additional vehicles were involved in the crash. Authorities confirmed an 18-year-old man was killed, while three other people were hospitalized with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 remained closed for several hours during the investigation. Colorado Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed the lanes reopened shortly before 3 p.m., roughly 12 hours after the crash was first reported.

Officials later confirmed that all eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 had reopened.
