1 Dead in Greeley Traffic Crash on 23rd Avenue and 10th Street
GREELEY, CO – On November 9, an accident on 23rd Avenue and 10th Street led to the arrest of Eduardo Parra-Corral and the death of Jasmine Carpio.
The Greeley accident involving a Ford Mustang and a Subaru Impreza happened at about 5:45 a.m. on 23rd Avenue and 10th Street.
Police say the teen driver accused of speeding while drunk before a crash in Greeley earlier this month is now facing a vehicular homicide charge after the woman he hit died from her injuries.
According to investigators, 19-year-old Eduardo Parra-Corral was driving a Ford Mustang with a 20-year-old passenger when he ran a red light at 23rd Avenue at more than 100 miles per hour. Police said he was under the influence of alcohol when he crashed into a Subaru driven by a 27-year-old woman, later identified as Jasmine Faith Carpio.
The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Parra-Corral and his passenger suffered minor injuries.
After the crash, Parra-Corral was arrested on charges including driving without a valid license, possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor, and vehicular assault. His passenger was also taken into custody on a warrant connected to an earlier hit-and-run and providing false identifying information.
Five days later, on Nov. 14, the Subaru driver (Ms. Carpio) died from her injuries. Parra-Corral, who is still in custody, now faces a vehicular homicide charge. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 2.
The Greeley Police Department continues to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Ed Kubala at [email protected].
The Weld County Coroner’s Office released the victim’s identity, but no GoFundMe has been posted for her yet.
Sweet Lawyers extends our condolences to the family and community of Jasmine Carpio.
