1 Dead in Union City Auto Accident on Alvarado-Niles Road and Decoto Road

UNION CITY, CA (September 17, 2026) – Friday morning, a 14-year-old girl died in a horrific box truck crash on Alvarado-Niles Road and Decoto Road.

The incident involving a silver Mazda sedan and a commercial box truck happened at around 8:05 a.m. on Alvarado-Niles Road and Decoto Road.

Officers found the girl in the front passenger seat of one of the vehicles. She was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died, police said.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police previously said alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the collision.

The girl’s death marked Union City’s third traffic fatality of 2026.
