1 Dead in Madera County Traffic Crash on Avenue 7 1/2 near Road 9

MADERA COUNTY, CA (December 25, 2025) – Tuesday morning, a driver died in a horrific car accident on Avenue 7 1/2 near Road 9.

The incident happened just after 5:00 a.m. on Avenue 7 1/2 near Road 9.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 27-year-old man was driving a white Dodge Dakota eastbound when he crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a white Chevrolet Cobalt driven by a 47-year-old man from Madera.

CHP said the Chevrolet driver swerved right in an attempt to avoid the crash, but the Dodge struck the left rear of the vehicle. The impact caused the Dodge to hit a power pole and overturn.

The Dodge driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The Chevrolet driver was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were factors.
