1 Person Dead in Phoenix Multi-Vehicle Accident on Bell Road and 12th Street

PHOENIX, AZ (June 16, 2026) – Sunday morning, Carlos Alejandro Barnett Real died in a horrific chain-reaction crash on Bell Road and 12th Street.

The incident happened just after 5:30 a.m. on Bell Road and 12th Street.

First responders arrived and found a motorcyclist seriously injured, according to the Phoenix Police Department. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died. The victim was identified as 34-year-old Carlos Alejandro Barnett Real.

Witnesses told officers the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed on Bell Road when it struck a vehicle making a left turn onto 12th Street. The impact reportedly pushed that vehicle into a second car that was stopped at the intersection.

The driver of the first vehicle struck was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

During the investigation, a suspected impaired driver crashed into a patrol vehicle being used by an officer directing traffic. The officer was taken to a hospital as a precaution, and the driver was arrested.

Authorities said the area has since reopened.
