Horrific Crash on State Route 510 Injures 2 People [Thurston County, WA]

Thurston County, WA (May 27, 2025) — Two people suffered serious injuries Sunday night after an alleged DUI crash on State Route 510 in Thurston County.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a 50-year-old Olympia man was driving westbound near Mud Run Road Southeast around 9:30 p.m. when he crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with another vehicle.

A 61-year-old woman from Lacey, riding in the suspect’s vehicle, and a 29-year-old Yelm man driving the second car were both taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital for treatment. Authorities said at least one victim sustained life-altering injuries.

Officials confirmed everyone involved wore seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and declared totaled.

The collision blocked portions of State Route 510 for nearly three and a half hours while crews cleared the scene and investigators worked to determine the cause.

Troopers arrested the Olympia man on suspicion of DUI, vehicular assault, and booked him into the Thurston County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
