BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 5, 2025) – Sunday night, a horrific head-on crash on California City Boulevard near Joshua Boulevard killed one person.

The incident happened at around 8:48 p.m. on California City Boulevard near Joshua Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a northbound Kia veered across the broken yellow lines and into the southbound lanes. Then, the Kia collided head-on with a southbound BMW.

Moreover, responders pronounced the male driver of the BMW dead at the scene. Then, paramedics rushed the female driver of the Kia to Antelope Valley Medical Center with major injuries.

Furthermore, officers do not believe that impairment played a role in the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
