1 Person Dead in Cambria Auto Accident on Highway 1 near Burton Drive

CAMBRIA, CA (May 20, 2024) – Sunday afternoon, a horrific head-on crash on Highway 1 near Burton Drive killed one person.

The incident happened at around 3:20 p.m. on northbound Highway 1, north of Burton Drive.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle swerved into the southbound lane for still unknown reasons and collided head-on with a second vehicle.

Moreover, responders confirmed that the 20-year-old female driver of the first vehicle died in the crash. Then, paramedics transported the 19-year-old passenger of the first vehicle with major injuries, the 56-year-old male driver of the second vehicle, and his 59-year-old female passenger, both with major injuries, to a hospital for treatment.

Furthermore, authorities do not believe that impairment played a role in the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
