1 Dead in Kansas City Traffic Accident on Independence Avenue and Jackson Avenue

KANSAS CITY, MO (December 21, 2025) – Saturday morning, a driver died in a horrific head-on crash on Independence Avenue and Jackson Avenue.



The incident happened just after 3:30 a.m. on Independence Avenue and Jackson Avenue.

A preliminary investigation determined that a silver Chevrolet Malibu crossed the double yellow line and began traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Independence Avenue, where it collided with a silver Ford Taurus traveling eastbound.

The driver of the Ford was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, police said. The driver of the Chevrolet was also transported with life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital. A front-seat passenger in the Chevrolet was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

Police have not released the identities of those involved.

Authorities said this marks Kansas City’s 65th traffic fatality this year, compared with 89 at the same point last year.
