1 Dead in San Diego Two-Vehicle Accident near 100 Sea World Drive

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 31, 2025) – Saturday morning, a person died in a horrific hit-and-run crash near 200 Sea World Drive.

The incident involving two vehicles happened at about 12:20 a.m. near the 100 block of Sea World Drive.

San Diego police say a hit-and-run crash that happened just after midnight ultimately left a 61-year-old woman dead.

Investigators determined that a 2013 Honda rear-ended another vehicle, which was pushed forward. Hours later, police learned that the same Honda had also struck a pedestrian on the side of the road.

The Honda was later found, but the driver has not been located, according to Sgt. Clint Leisz.

The roadway was initially cleared around 2 a.m., but at about 1 p.m., officers were called back to the same area after reports of a body being found near the crash site. That victim was identified as a 61-year-old woman.

Police said they did not realize a pedestrian had been hit at the time of the initial crash. A SigAlert was later issued due to heavy traffic in the area, which was cleared around 6 p.m.
