ALBUQUERQUE, NM (March 12, 2025) – Monday night, a horrific motorcycle crash on Rio Clara Avenue SW and 98th Street SW killed 1.

The incident happened just before 8:40 p.m. on Rio Clara Avenue SW and 98th Street SW.

A crash involving a motorcycle and a van resulted in the deaths of both drivers at the scene.

Following the collision, Bernalillo County Fire Rescue and Albuquerque Ambulance attempted to assist the van driver, but authorities later confirmed they did not survive.

The Albuquerque Police Department’s Motor Unit responded to the investigation, with officers and Police Service Aides shutting down lanes on 98th St. for the inquiry.

According to an APD statement, a gold Honda Odyssey had stopped at a stop sign on east Rio Clara Ave before entering the intersection. A motorcycle traveling south on 98th St. then crashed into the driver’s side door of the van, leading to both fatalities.

At 11:15 PM on Monday, March 10, Apple Maps showed that 98th St SW remained closed between Rio Rojo Ave SW and Sacate Blanco Ave SW.
