1 Dead in Sherman Oaks Motorcycle Accident on San Diego Freeway

SHERMAN OAKS, CA (August 27, 2026) – Wednesday morning, a person died in a horrific motorcycle crash on San Diego Freeway.

The incident happened at around 11:15 a.m. on the southbound San Diego Freeway, just north of the Ventura (101) Freeway near Burbank Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the crash, but the man could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

All southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway were temporarily closed, with traffic diverted onto Burbank Boulevard during the emergency response.

Two lanes reopened around 12:10 p.m., but traffic had already backed up to Nordhoff Street.
