Man Killed in Horrific Pedestrian Crash on Amador Avenue

1 Dead in Las Cruces Pedestrian Accident on Amador Avenue and Esperanza Street

LAS CRUCES, NM (August 4, 2026) – Saturday night, a 52-year-old man died in a horrific pedestrian crash on Amador Avenue and Esperanza Street.

The incident happened just before 10:00 p.m. near Amador Avenue and Esperanza Street.

According to police, a 52-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a 2025 Honda.

First responders found the man suffering from multiple injuries. He was transported to MountainView Regional Medical Center before being transferred to University Medical Center of El Paso, where he later died.

Investigators said the 22-year-old driver was traveling west on Amador during rainy weather when he saw the pedestrian walking in the roadway. The driver attempted to swerve to avoid the man but was unable to avoid the collision.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The crash remains under investigation.

The victim’s identity will not be released until his next of kin have been notified.
