KANSAS CITY, MO (September 10, 2026) – Tuesday afternoon, a person died in a horrific pedestrian crash on East US 40 Highway near White Avenue.

The incident happened on East US 40 Highway near White Avenue.

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross East U.S. 40 Highway near White Avenue, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

Police said the pedestrian was crossing from south to north when a westbound black Hyundai was unable to avoid them and struck them. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but later died.

The Hyundai driver remained at the scene and cooperated with detectives, police said.

The crash marked Kansas City’s 50th traffic fatality of the year, compared with 49 at the same time last year, according to KCPD.
