1 Dead in Hayward Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 880 and SR 92

HAYWARD, CA (June 11, 2023) – Saturday, a horrific pedestrian crash on Interstate 880 and SR 92 killed 1 person.

The incident began at about 9:00 a.m. when a 2019 Lincoln MKC and a 2012 Toyota collided and caused no injuries. According to reports, the Toyota was occupied by a male driver and a female passenger. Meanwhile, a solo male driver occupied the Lincoln.

Officers confirmed that the crash happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate 880, north of SR 92.

As the vehicles parked in the fast lane, the occupants exited the vehicles to exchange information. However, a 2002 Dodge Durango in the first lane struck both vehicles and all three pedestrians.

As a result, the Toyota’s female passenger succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, responders took the two male drivers to a hospital with “major but non-life threatening” injuries.

Meanwhile, the Dodge overturned on the right shoulder. However, CHP found no one in the vehicle when the authorities arrived.

Initial reports said that the suspect vehicle might have crashed into the parked cars while racing.

Also, the authorities continue to search for more information about the incident. Moreover, they urged anyone with information to call CHP Hayward at 510-489-1500.
