PHELAN, CA (January 28, 2025) – Monday night, a horrific pedestrian crash on Johnson Road and Smoke Tree Road killed 1 person.

The crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian happened at about 5:42 p.m. on Johnson Road and Smoke Tree Road.

San Bernardino County firefighters responded to a scene on Johnson Road, where they discovered a pedestrian lying in the northbound lane. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to California Highway Patrol logs, the intersection was initially blocked by a white 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck involved in the collision.

The truck’s driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. The vehicle sustained visible damage, with its side view mirror broken and hanging.

The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office has been called to recover the body. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of their next of kin.
