1 Dead in Eureka Pedestrian Accident on Myrtle Avenue and Vernon Street

EUREKA, CA (December 3, 2025) – Sunday night, a person died in a horrific pedestrian crash on Myrtle Avenue and Vernon Street.

The incident happened at about 9:00 p.m. on Myrtle Avenue and Vernon Street.

CHP Public Information Officer Jason Esselman said early findings show the pedestrian was walking in the southbound lane of Myrtle Avenue, just south of Vernon Street, when a southbound 2006 Toyota Rav4 hit them. The pedestrian died at the scene.

Esselman said the driver did not appear to be impaired. It is still unclear if the pedestrian was. Authorities have not released the victim’s name while they notify family members.

The road reopened later that night once investigators finished their work.
