1 Dead in Fagus Pedestrian Accident on State Highway DD

FAGUS, MO (August 10, 2026) – Saturday night, a person died in a horrific pedestrian crash on State Highway DD.

The incident occurred at about 7:40 p.m. on State Highway DD.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, one person was killed, and another was seriously injured after being struck by a minivan on State Highway DD/County Road 228.

MSHP said the minivan was traveling westbound when it struck two pedestrians walking along the edge of the road. Butler County Coroner Jim Akers pronounced a 62-year-old Dexter man dead at the scene.

A 62-year-old Dexter woman was seriously injured and flown to an out-of-state hospital for treatment.

The Campbell Volunteer Fire Department initially described the incident as a serious crash. Drivers were advised to avoid State Highway DD near the low-water crossing for several hours while authorities investigated.
