1 Dead in Sacramento Pedestrian Accident on US Highway 50 and 34th Street

SACRAMENTO, CA (August 18, 2026) – Late Sunday night, a person died in a horrific pedestrian crash on US Highway 50 and 34th Street.

The crash happened at around 11:30 p.m. on eastbound US Highway 50, west of 34th Street in the Alhambra Triangle area.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a man was killed, and three others were injured after an SUV struck them on the right shoulder of Highway 50.

CHP said a vehicle had a flat tire on the shoulder, and the driver’s friends had arrived and parked behind it to help change the tire. An SUV then drifted off the roadway and struck four men who were outside the vehicles.

One man died in the crash, while another suffered major injuries and was transported for treatment. Two others sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.

CHP logs indicated that Caltrans temporarily closed all eastbound lanes of Highway 50, along with the 34th Street off-ramp and X Street on-ramp.
