1 Dead in Clines Corners Auto Accident on Interstate 40

CLINES CORNERS, NM (December 8, 2025) – Thursday morning, a person died in a horrific semi-truck crash on Interstate 40.

The incident happened at about 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 49 near Clines Corners.

A semi-truck lost control and rolled over. Another semi-truck then crashed into it, triggering a pileup that involved two more trucks, according to a responding deputy.

One of the trucks caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames in the median, a witness said.

One person died, and another was taken to the hospital. The four others involved were not hurt.

The crash shut down I-40 for several hours. One lane in each direction has since reopened, and deputies are still investigating.

With the rough driving conditions in the county, deputies said there have been several other crashes and urged drivers to slow down, stay alert, and be cautious.
