Lake Isabella, CA (July 16, 2025) On Monday evening, a horrific traffic crash on Highway 178 left at least one person hurt.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the shocking incident happened just after 6 p.m. west of Yankee Canyon Drive.

Reports say that the crash prompted a full closure of Highway 178 near Lake Isabella.

Officials reported at least one person sustained major injuries in the collision. Caltrans temporarily shut down both directions of the highway to allow crews to safely recover the vehicle involved.

The CHP is currently investigating the circumstances of the crash.
