Horrific Traffic Crash on SR702 Injures 2 Yelm Residents [Pierce County, WA]

Pierce County, WA (March 10, 2025) – 2 Yelm residents suffered injuries on Saturday afternoon in a traumatic traffic crash on SR702.

According to authorities, the horrific crash happened around 2:30 p.m. in South Pierce County.

Reports say that a suspected DUI driver caused a crash, leaving two people injured.

Authorities say that a 66-year-old Lewis County man drove north on Eighth Avenue near McKenna when he ran a stop sign and collided with an eastbound vehicle on State Route 702.

Emergency responders transported the two injured Yelm residents, ages 44 and 43, to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

Authorities charged the Lewis County man with vehicular assault. The crash blocked the road for more than three hours as crews cleared the scene.
