Horrific Vehicle Crash on Highway 6 Injures Minor [Daviess County, MO]

5-Year-Old Seriously Injured After Horse Struck by Vehicle on Highway 6

Daviess County, MO (May 16, 2025) On Wednesday evening, a 5-year-old Jamesport boy was seriously hurt after a shocking vehicle crash on Highway 6.

According to authorities, the frightening collision happened around 6:50 p.m. near 330th Street, approximately two miles east of Jamesport.

Reports say that the 5-year-old boy from Jamesport sustained serious injuries when a vehicle struck the horse he was riding on Highway 6 in Daviess County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the horse was traveling southbound on the highway when an eastbound 2011 Jeep Wrangler, driven by an 18-year-old woman from Gallatin, collided with it. The impact ejected the boy from the horse, leaving him injured on the roadway.

Emergency responders flew the child to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City via Life Flight for treatment. Authorities reported that a private party removed the horse, while the Jeep, which sustained total damage, was also taken from the scene.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and Grundy County EMS provided assistance at the crash site.
