1 Dead in Richland Hills Auto Accident on State Highway 121

RICHLAND HILLS, TX (December 1, 2025) – Sunday morning, a person died in a horrific wrong-way crash on State Highway 121.

The incident happened at about 5:30 a.m. on State Highway 121.

Police received several reports of a driver heading north in the southbound lanes of State Highway 121, also known as Airport Freeway. About five minutes later, officers and firefighters were sent to the 6900 block of SH 121, where two vehicles had collided, and one was on fire.

Emergency crews arrived to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters put out the fire and found the driver, the sole occupant, dead at the scene. The victim’s body was taken to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. The driver of the second vehicle had injuries that were not life-threatening and was transported to a hospital.

Preliminary findings show the deceased driver was going the wrong way before hitting the other car. Police say intoxication is believed to have played a role, though the medical examiner will make the final determination on cause and manner of death and will release the victim’s identity once relatives are notified.

Investigators believe the deceased driver was responsible for the crash, and no charges are expected. The case remains under investigation.
