Man in Wheelchair Dies in Phoenix Traffic Crash

Phoenix, AZ (May 8, 2026) – Ignacio Ramos Duarte, 73, was killed in a pedestrian accident on 21st Street Wednesday night.

It was before 8 p.m. on May 6 when the deadly crash happened at the intersection with Broadway Road.

Police said Duarte was crossing the street on a wheelchair when he was hit by a vehicle.

Immediately, rescuers rushed to the scene and transported the critically injured victim to a hospital, where he later died.

The driver stayed at the crash scene and cooperated with the authorities. Police said the driver did not show signs of impairment.
