Police Investigate Crash at Willow and Herndon Avenues in Clovis

CLOVIS, CA (May 13, 2026)— One person was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a four-vehicle crash at Willow and Herndon avenues knocked down a signal pole, near the boundary of northeast Fresno and northwest Clovis.

According to Clovis Police Department spokesperson Ty Wood, the crash happened around 12:45 p.m. and involved three pickup trucks and one SUV. One of the pickup trucks was hauling a trailer.

Police said one pickup truck was traveling west on Herndon Avenue when the driver tried to turn right onto Willow Avenue without being in the right-turn lane. Another westbound pickup truck hauling a trailer then struck the turning truck.

The impact knocked down a traffic signal pole, which then damaged an SUV and another truck.

Emergency responders transported one adult to the hospital. Officials have not released details about the person’s condition.

All drivers remained at the scene, and police said they do not suspect DUI played a role in the crash.

The collision severely affected traffic in the area. Vehicles backed up at all corners of the intersection. Police redirected westbound Herndon Avenue traffic onto Peach Avenue, while southbound Peach Avenue drivers had to turn around at Herndon.

City of Fresno crews worked to repair the damaged signal pole. Other traffic lights at the intersection were flashing red while repairs were underway.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
