Driver Arrested After  Hit-and-Run Crash Near Mossdale Elementary in Lathrop

LATHROP, CA (October 17, 2025) — A 13-year-old girl suffered injuries after being struck in a hit-and-run crash near Mossdale Elementary School early Tuesday morning.

Authorities responded to the scene just before 7:45 a.m. following reports of a pedestrian hit while crossing the street in a designated crosswalk.

According to the Lathrop Police Department, the teenager was walking near the school when she was struck, sustaining injuries to her foot and left side.

Thanks to eyewitness accounts, surveillance footage from local homes, and school security cameras, investigators swiftly identified the vehicle involved.

The suspected driver, a 19-year-old, admitted to being both unlicensed and uninsured. He was subsequently arrested on felony hit-and-run charges and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

Police emphasized the importance of safe driving near schools, reminding the community to slow down and remain vigilant in school zones, particularly during busy pick-up and drop-off times.
