Passenger Hospitalized After Crash on Chariton County Route C 

CHARITON COUNTY, MO (February 19, 2026) — A 24-year-old man from Luquillo, Puerto Rico, sustained injuries Wednesday morning following a commercial vehicle crash on Chariton County Route C in northern Missouri.

The collision occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Chariton County Route C, approximately eight miles south of Marceline. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a box truck driven by a 30-year-old man from Temple, Pennsylvania, traveled off the right side of the roadway.

Troopers reported that the driver then overcorrected in an attempt to return to the roadway. 

The sudden maneuver caused the truck to cross over and run off the left side of the road, where it overturned and struck an embankment.

Authorities confirmed that the driver, who was wearing a seat belt, did not suffer injuries. The passenger, identified as a 24-year-old man from Luquillo, Puerto Rico, sustained minor injuries in the crash. 

Emergency medical personnel transported him by ambulance to Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, Missouri, for treatment.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to document the circumstances surrounding the rollover.
