LOS ANGELES, CA (August 26, 2026) – Early Sunday morning, an alarming MTA bus crash on 5th Street and Spring Street led to injuries.

The incident involving a passenger vehicle and an MTA bus happened at around 4:21 a.m. on 5th Street and Spring Street.

The crash damaged a fire hydrant, leaving the passenger vehicle on top of it. Water from the broken hydrant was strong enough to partially lift the vehicle until firefighters shut off a nearby street valve.

Reports confirmed that a passenger on a 720 bus traveling to Santa Monica reported possible injuries, prompting crews to request an ambulance.

A witness said the driver of the passenger vehicle walked away from the scene, leaving the damaged car behind.
