WAGON WHEEL, NM (April 22, 2025) – On Sunday, a startling traffic crash on Interstate 40 near Mile Marker 209 led to injuries.

The incident happened along eastbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 209.

The Torrance County Sheriff’s Office said that a vehicle hit its brakes due to visibility issues and was rear-ended by another vehicle—also, the incident involved roughly five separate crashes involving around 15 vehicles.

Authorities confirmed that multiple parties sustained minor injuries in the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified. 

Due to limited information, the Torrance County Sheriff’s Office continued investigating the crash.
