77-Year-Old Woman Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 50 Near Cotopaxi
Cotopaxi, CO (June 27, 2025) On Wednesday morning, injuries were reported in a 3-vehicle collision on Highway 50 that resulted in the death of a 77-year-old Monte Vista woman.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the deadly crash happened on U.S. 50 near milepost 246 at around 11:50 a.m.
Reports say that that the woman was driving a westbound Chevy Trax when she failed to navigate a right-hand curve, crossed into oncoming traffic, and struck a trailer attached to an eastbound Ram 3500. The Chevy then continued westbound and collided head-on with a Honda Pilot.
The impact caused the Chevy to rotate and stop on the eastbound shoulder. The Ram stopped off the right side of the road, and the Honda came to rest near the Chevy. Authorities confirmed the Chevy driver was ejected despite wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ram’s three occupants—a man, woman, and 1-year-old child from Libby, Montana—were uninjured. The Honda’s driver and two 14-year-old passengers from Colorado Springs were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, while a third 14-year-old suffered serious injuries. All occupants in the Ram and Honda had seatbelts on.
The Fremont County Coroner has not yet released the name of the deceased.
We at Sweet Lawyers extend our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of the woman who lost her life in this tragic accident. Our thoughts are also with the injured and their families as they recover.
