Overturned Tanker Truck Crash on the Grand Parkway in Fort Bend County

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX (May 7, 2026) — Authorities are investigating a crash on the Grand Parkway involving an overturned tanker truck that caused major traffic delays on Thursday afternoon.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened in the northbound lanes of the Grand Parkway near West Airport Drive.

SkyEye footage showed the big rig overturned on its side across two lanes and partially off the freeway. Deputies said additional vehicles were also involved in the crash.

Authorities reported only minor injuries.

The overturned tanker forced officials to close the main lanes for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene. In a 7:30 p.m. update, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said crews expected the main lanes to remain closed until around midnight.

Deputies advised drivers to avoid the area and use the feeder lanes while emergency crews and investigators remained at the scene.

Authorities have not released additional details about what caused the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Injured in a Fort Bend County Truck Crash? Legal Support Can Help

A crash involving an overturned tanker truck can create a dangerous and stressful situation for everyone on the road. Large commercial vehicles can block multiple lanes, involve several other vehicles, and cause long traffic closures while emergency crews work to secure the scene.

Even when injuries are initially described as minor, victims may still experience pain, emotional distress, medical expenses, vehicle damage, and time away from work.

At Sweet Lawyers, we understand how overwhelming truck accident cases can be. Collisions involving tankers and other commercial vehicles often require a detailed investigation because many factors may contribute to the crash.

Investigators may need to review driver actions, speed, lane changes, road conditions, vehicle maintenance, cargo weight, company safety practices, and commercial insurance coverage.

After a multi-vehicle truck crash, injured victims may face uncertainty about who is responsible. Insurance companies may attempt to shift blame or minimize claims, especially when multiple vehicles are involved.

Sweet Lawyers helps injured accident victims by reviewing crash reports, gathering available evidence, communicating with insurance companies, and helping clients understand their legal options.
