Isaac Wielander Dies in Tragic Crash on Baseline Road

20-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Tempe Motorcycle Crash; Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Impairment

Tempe, AZ (June 23, 2025) 20-year-old Isaac Wielander died after a collision involving a car late Saturday night near Kiwanis Park in Tempe.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Baseline Road and Mill Avenue.

Emergency responders found Wielander with critical injuries and transported him to a hospital, where he later died.

According to investigators, 23-year-old Wilson Martin Chavez was driving a Chevrolet Camaro when he failed to yield while exiting Kiwanis Park and collided with Wielander, who was traveling eastbound on Baseline Road.

Chavez and his passenger remained at the scene. Police arrested Chavez after determining he showed signs of impairment. He was later booked into city jail and released pending multiple charges.

The crash remains under investigation.
