67-Year-Old Woman Dies After Morongo Valley Crash; Five Others Injured

Morongo Valley, CA (April 29, 2026) — On Friday afternoon, 67-year-old Ivy Fitzgerald of Joshua Tree lost her life following a crash on SR-62 in Morongo Valley.

Reports say that Fitzgerald was riding in a Dodge Caliber when the vehicle attempted a U-turn on State Route 62 near Rose Eden Drive. During the maneuver, the car moved into the path of an oncoming Honda Civic, triggering a collision.

Fitzgerald, who was seated in the front passenger seat, suffered severe injuries. Emergency crews rushed her to Desert Regional Medical Center, where she later passed away.

Five others were hurt in the crash. The driver of the Dodge sustained minor injuries and declined further treatment. The driver of the Honda and three juvenile passengers suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for care.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
